Eco-cultural development.
The process of development is dependent on many factors. During the past few decades three major new sets of inter-disciplinary studies - some would say 'multidisciplinary' - have emerged: human ecology, cultural studies and development studies. All of these are capable of throwing light on the process of development. The study of eco-cultural development brings together contributions from the three areas. It does not claim to be a new subject or discipline, at least not in these pages. Rather it is a way of focusing on the areas of the world this website is interested in, i.e. the Andean countries and Europe.
